Posted by: cedricsorensen at August 26, 2003 01:26 PMWell, these gals both practice some form of hair removal to "define" the eyebrows. What do you mean exactly by "well-defined" eyebrows in the first picture? If you mean to indicate that the average Caucasoid (sic) is more hirsute in this region, I would agree. However, I do believe that the epicanthal fold (correct me if this is and incorrect term), and therefore the shape of the eye ("round" vs. "almond") varies among Caucasoid persons. Many have very narrow eyes. I am less familiar with the varience among persons of Mongoloid type. Both of these women are very beautiful, by the way! I'd be interested to see some pictures of non-model type men. Models and run of the mill female types tend to de-hair themselves for the sake of culturally prescribed aesthetics. (Lest anyone take offense, I number among these run of the mill females. I do not pluck, wax, or use make-up to "enhance" my facial features, however. Not that there is anything wrong with it.)
Posted by: mmoates at August 30, 2003 09:31 AMWow, Herres one to think about! If cauacasoids and mongoloids originasted in such similar climates, why are they so much different looking? Even if certain facial features remained among mongloids, you would at least expect some depigmentation to occur. You might also expect possible blondeism and lighter eye color. Nature is confusing.
Posted by: nine bows at September 2, 2003 09:58 PMNortheast Asians evolved in a climate which was very cold, very windy, and generally sunny. Northwest Europe was very cold, perhaps not as windy, and cloudy. Depigmentation in Northern Europe reached its height because of the combo of cold and clouds. In Asia, the sun led to the epicanthic fold (to protect against glare, snow blindness) and the flat, wide cheeked features to protect against wind and extreme cold. Sexual selection also influenced these differences. I believe Rushton and others mention about some of this. I also asked Whitney about this before he passed away. My comments here are a summary of various views on this topic.
Posted by: Rienzi at September 8, 2003 08:48 AMMost of the material from the main author on this site seems enlighted, and enlightening. I wonder then if anyone in connection with running this here web page is aware that you've included some very subtle, yet very invasive and destructive, racist propoganda into your web site. This side by side comparison of features between races has often been used as a devise to quietly present racist thought on a level that might not catch the reader's attention. Such propaganda devices were used against the Japenese during WWII. The idea is to inject ideas of impurity or evil onto the entire race by aligning their features with negative imagery, while conversly aligning and associating the European body style with ideas of dominance, righteousness, etc. Just take a quick look a the descriptive words used for the white chick and Lucy lu. The white chick is "fine, well-defined, deep, large, high, projecting, strong." The Asian is "coarse, very black, yellowish, flaring, sparse, tilted, low/flat, medium."
I'm not looking for a cause to whine about, actually I'm probably the least racially-sensative person I know of...but as I understand the spirit of this web site, perhaps you folks might consider removing that illustration.
Mongoloids and caucasoids are two completely different sub groups of the human race. The other important subgroup is negroid. The facial features of mongoloids are more blunt which gives them a look which is not conventionally beautiful. This is especially so for the eyes and nose. Whether mongoloids evolved from caucasoids is highly debatable. If cold is the reason for epicanthus, then the vikings should have looked like a chinese!
Posted by: keng at October 4, 2003 08:38 AMIf you look in legend or mythology from around the world,
In the bible it states that Noah had three children named Japheth, Shem and Ham and all the populations of the world came from these three.
The nordic people of old, say there are three differant types of people;- Jarl (meaning Earl/nobility) who was fair in colour with glittering eyes, Karl(meaning free man) who had a rosy complexion with bright eyes, and lastly, Thrall who was swarthy / ugly and slaves descended from him.
In India there is mention of 3/4 differant races (a black, a white, a yellow and I think if I recall the mention a red race), infact if i'm correct 'Caste' originally meant colour.
In Korea there is the 'three clan ancestors type', which is bacically about three men, and three wives from a floating box. this is parallel to myths in Melanesia, Micronesia and Taiwan.
[I'm sorry if this information offends anyone but the ancients didn't understand 'political correctness'. and if helps I can show a theory which suggests the first ever ruler was negroid. (Nimrod is the most obvious piece of evidence, The early Egyptian are the next, the stone head in central America are the next ....and so on... ]
If we go back to the Book of Genesis in the Bible, which from what i can tell is one of the oldest and definately the most accurate piece of information from the ancient world then it mentions the sons of Ham living in what is now Africa, the sons of Shem living North, East and West of Arabia, and the sons of Japheth living in the coastland and later in the Bible it mentions their land in the far north.
my question could the mongoloid features have anything to do with living close to water??
Do you have another picture for Negroid features as well?
Also, please comment on this post: http://www.andrewsw.com/news/index.php?p=551
Thanks.
Posted by: Andrew at March 15, 2004 08:35 PMJust wondering where Indians came from (not American)?. Indians do not have negroid features and thus i wonder whether they would be a cross between white and black people. The people of the nineteenth century also gave Australian aboriginals the australoid category. Genetics is an interesting topic however can also become a dangerous one when people start making to many harmful assumptions about the differing evolution between races.
Posted by: Ramsay at April 3, 2004 09:28 PMIf you would like to make a side-by-side comparison, you must use faces looking at the same direction and same make-up intensity, otherwise, it would be an irresponsible and laughable assessment.
Posted by: amora jones at May 15, 2004 10:45 AMI'm not comparing these two particular models, I am just using them to illustrate the differences between the two races.
Posted by: Dienekes at May 16, 2004 04:45 PMI came across the site and I am interested. I don't think any of you are racists I think talking about attractiveness is understandable. I'm a chinese girl, do you know why i came about this site? i was checking about my ancestry on the internet. My father is 100% chinese, but my mother's side was not of the Han(majority group in china), she is of the Manchu, long before known as Nu Chen, living in the borders of russia, china and korea. and many say people who live in the that part of china more or less has some caucasion genes though i don't look it. so i dont think there is any sense argue about whether you have any other genes in your body.
Posted by: kay at May 31, 2004 03:13 AMOut of all the Mongoloid girls, you had to use ugly ass Lucy Liu.

So why did you chose racial models hidden behind heavy make up? Stereotyped (but very popular today) artificial sex segregation rather than stupid racism, or...!
Instead you could perhaps help me (a complete layman on physical anthropology and genetics) by reading and correcting Out of Africa and back as "Mongoloids" on http://klevius.info/Humandiaspora.html?1085339285543
Maybe you could also benefit from some insights on sex segregation on my site

Posted by: ferdi at July 24, 2004 04:42 PMplease answer a question i've had for years. i don't see a total explanation in any of the postings.
why do blacks have kinky, wiry hair, very very thick lips and those huge flat noses?
as someone mentioned about the mongoloids, negroid peoples are not the most attractive people either.
thank you for an answer.
>> she is indian actress raveena tandon
No, she isn't.

There are two theories: (i) that these traits were sexually selected as they are paedomorphic, or (ii) that they represent an adaptation to the hot and humid climate of the Negroid homeland; not sure how that works though.
